Countryside Ranger

£24,242.40 per annum

As a Countryside Ranger, you will be part of a frontline team based at Capstone Farm Country Park but working around the variety of 47 woodland sites within Medway.

Our Countryside Rangers have a wide and varied job role, maintaining the public areas within the various site through inspections, minor tree works, cutting back overgrown vegetation, repairs and installation of infrastructure, improving and maintaining a variety of habitats. You will also be conducting surveys and working with various stakeholders such as friends of groups, resolving health & safety issues and enhancing our valuable woodlands and greenspaces.

You will help manage and supervise activities of contractors on site when they are carrying out works on ours or the Council’s behalf, and actively promote Medway's parks and open spaces in alignment with Norse Group’s values.

What are we looking for from you?

You will be expected to bring a combination of knowledge, experience and skill to the role, highlighted by:

  • A professional qualification in countryside management (or similar subject), or demonstrable relevant experience 
  • Ability to identify key species of flora and fauna and relevant wildlife
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and health & safety guidelines, including environmental management 
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable and confident when dealing with members of the public 
  • Good IT skills
  • Able to work effectively both as an individual and as part of a team
  • Experience in working with landscaping power tools and chainsaw experience and license is an advantage
  • Able to use own initiative and work as part of a team
  • Full Driving Licence to meet the travel requirements of the role
