Associate Director - Quantity Surveying & Project Management

Our multi-disciplined team provide a number of property services to our clients, undertaking projects of varying size and complexity, resulting in innovative, sustainable and commercially viable delivery. 

As we continue to develop our project and client portfolio, we are currently looking to recruit an Associate Director of Quantity Surveying and Project Management into the team in Norwich. In this role, you will oversee the project delivery of a multi-faceted team, leading the Quantity Surveying service and also a key Client contact regarding construction contract, framework and cost items at a strategic level. Taking responsibility for managing and developing individuals as well as maintaining and growing relationships with existing and new clients.

In this role, you will lead on the delivery of a number of construction projects with our clients, as well as supporting larger collaborative pieces of work within the Group. You will offer your expertise through mentorship and support and colleagues, as well as providing solution driven advice to clients and senior stakeholders. Providing inspirational leadership, management and direction in a manner consistent with the Group’s values, including:

  • Providing clients with suitable professional QS/PM advice in relation to projects and related matters.
  • Supporting the QS & wider multi-disciplinary project team to ensure projects are delivered on time, to cost and within the expected quality criteria.
  • Managing the resourcing of QS/PM discipline, including where required, the commission of external consultants in the delivery of the programmes of work.
  • Acting as the professional technical lead at an office level, ensuring that company and working practices are adhered to and delivered to common professional standards that meet client needs, including being an active member of the Best Practice Group.
  • Managing the development and maintenance of local practice procedures via the Best Practice Group.
  • Procuring and delivering projects using the most appropriate contract, such as those within the JCT Suite/NEC.
  • Following procurement processes and procedures and providing input into the development and enhancement of further procedures as appropriate.
  • Supporting NCC procurement in compliance with the tender evaluation process.
  • Ensuring that business plan objectives and targets are delivered within agreed profit margins.
  • Identifying new business opportunities within Norse Consulting, with a focus on QS/PM services.
  • Developing new and existing client relationships.

Our Successful Candidate

It is expected that you are able to bring a blend of industry knowledge, commercial experience and sector exposure to the role. You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Professional Chartered membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related discipline and/or can demonstrate significant relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of a range of construction contract procedures and financial regulations.
  • Understanding of business planning, commercial risk management and financial management, with demonstrable success in securing new business opportunities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and proficient in the use of JCT Suite of Contracts/NEC Contracts.
  • Proficient in using CostX software (or equivalent product) for measurement and billing (desirable).
  • Familiar with relevant construction, health and safety legislation and risks and hazards including the CDM Regulations.
  • Hold a current CSCS site card or prepared to attain.
  • Leadership / Management experience.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Full UK Driving Licence
