Assistant Quantity Surveyor

NPS Property Consultants works in partnership with Norfolk County Council, supplying expertise across property maintenance and consultancy services. The business supports a growing number of public and private sector clients across East Anglia.

As part of our on growing growth and development, we are currently recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to come into our Norwich based team. This will give you the chance to work with a team of surveying professionals and provide a full range of services to a number of development projects.

As part of this team, you will be responsible for a number of duties to ensure we provide a comprehensive surveying services to our clients, including:

  • Preparing feasibility studies, preliminary estimates, cost plans, databases, tender and other analysis and advise on the economics of design at the early stages of a project all using computer techniques and modern standards.
  • Preparing high quality tender documentation to deadlines including production of pre-tender estimates.
  • Undertaking preliminary analysis of tenders, preparing cost breakdowns and initial cost profile under supervision and negotiating contract sums.
  • Controlling all post contract procedures, making valuations for payments, producing financial reports and monitoring actual and anticipated expenditure..
  • Assisting Contract Administrators in the preparation of AIs.
  • Preparing final account and agreeing with contractor, including carrying out initial assessment of claims and deal with audit procedures.
  • Leading and producing updated risk re-insurance valuations for our NCC Client.
  • Facilitating good working relationships with clients.

Our Successful Candidate:

Whilst it would be ideal for you to have proven experience within all areas of surveying, we would be keen to offer personal developments opportunities and assistance towards industry qualifications for the right individual. As such, we are looking for as much of the following knowledge and experience:

  • HND / HNC (or equivalent) in a related surveying or construction discipline, or can demonstrate relevant experience.
  • Existing membership, or be prepared to work towards membership, of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors – RICS
  • Familiar with relevant construction, health and safety legislation and risks and hazards associated with asbestos.
  • Hold a current site card or is prepared to attain.
  • Proven experience within a similar or related role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the business
  • Any knowledge of the construction industry, BCIS Online or NBS Building would be an advantage.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
