Catering Assistant - St David's Hospice Care

Newport Norse represents the highly successful joint venture between Norse Group and Newport City Council, providing contract services across property and facilities management.

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Catering Assisting for St David's Hospice Care in Newport. It will be your responsibility to provide an efficient catering service within a Hospice Care environment ensuring that the highest standard of customer service is delivered. Alongside; 

  • Preparation of fruit, vegetables, and salads
  • Carry out simple cooking tasks under the direction of the Cook Manager.
  • Use and care of equipment, including daily and weekly cleaning.
  • Handling of cash during break and lunch services if applicable.
  • Cleaning of kitchen premises.

This position is being offered on a part time, permanent contract working 15hours per week, with various shifts to cover. 

We will provide full training if you have not worked within the industry before, but ideally we are looking for:

  • Previous experience working in a cleaning - catering role
  • Knowledge of health & safety regulations that are relevant to the post, including using relevant machinery and products
  • Ability to work autonomously, managing your own workload
  • Excellent communicator, comfortable engaging with members of the public and the client
