South West Norse: Facilities Maintenance Assistant - Devon County Hall

  • Salary: £22,713.60 per annum
  • Hours/Shift: 40 hpw – Monday to Saturday (5 out of 6 days required) + Out of Office Rota

Working in partnership with Devon County Council, South West Norse deliver a range of frontline and facilities services to local clients. We manage, maintain, and cater for Educational facilities, NHS sites, housing associations, leisure centres and civic buildings across the region.

We currently have opportunity to recruit an experienced Facilities Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Devon County Hall, Exeter on a full-time basis.

The Role:

Based on site, you will be expected to undertake a range of skilled and unskilled maintenance duties, carrying out tasks across caretaking and building management including the following:

  • Minor repairs and maintenance tasks, both pre-planned and reactive
  • Supervise on-site contractors for major works
  • General site maintenance including cleaning and hygiene services
  • Carry our basic health and safety checks ensuring Health and Safety guidelines, policies and procedures are implemented
  • Liaise with various colleagues to maximise efficiencies and ensure safe working systems are adopted.

Our Successful Candidate:

Whilst we are happy to provide ongoing support and training, we are looking for you to have some previous experience across a maintenance, caretaking or facilities role. This will ideally include delivering a range of minor repairs and site maintenance duties. We will also be requiring you to demonstrate:

  • Ability to deliver a good level of customer service
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable engaging with members of the public 
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to use your own initiative and work effectively under minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
  • Full UK Driving Licence
